I’m probably going against all the rules of being a Web Designer, but I just have to put this out there. Over the past several months, I have been seeing many newbie bloggers being taken advantage of.

These new bloggers are less than knowledgeable about designing their own themes. Let alone, taking a premade theme and creating their vision. Yes, this is a service I gladly offer to my clients, but the difference is, I don’t charge a ridiculous amount the design.

I Want to Let You in on a Little Secret!

You can still create your vision with little knowledge of WordPress with certain themes! I am a diehard Genesis Framework theme lover! They are easy for me to customize because:

  1. I know a little bit about coding
  2. I’ve been tinkering with Genesis for several years now
  3. I purchased a bundle on Studiopress that has nothing but Genesis Framework themes
  4. Genesis has built-in SEO features
  5. They are simply beautiful

However, prior to finding Studiopress and so many other Web Developers who sell themes built on Genesis Framework, I was a BluChicย {afflink}.

You see, when I first started blogging, over 6 years ago, I didn’t know anything about themes. I initially started on Blogger, which is totally different from WordPress (as many of you know). To think about self-hosting my own website without much knowledge was scary in itself. To think about creating my own vision in a web design was horrifying!

I Searched and Search

Until I found BluChic and I purchased a few themes. Bluchic is owned and operated by Kathie and Andrew. These two are very passionate about creating feminine WordPress Themes that are easy to customize and won’t break your wallet.

By now, I’m sure a lot of you are so familiar with Genesis Framework and seeking out a Designer to do the work for you.

However, with BluChic, you can create your own! You may need a little help with a custom header or images, but setting up your theme itself is simple!

Let’s Look at the Dashboard Features

I know if you’re using Genesis Framework, you don’t have these options. You see, BluChic does not need anything to do with Genesis Framework or it’s plugins!

Typically, when you do into your WordPress Dashboard and click on Appearance, you will see the first seven (7) options: Themes, Customize, Widgets, Menus, Header, Background, Edit CSS and the later, Editor. But if you notice, with using a BluChic theme, there are two more options available!ย Theme Settingsย andย Theme Options!

This is where you’re going to set up your blog layout and other standards with your blog page and widgets.

As a Web Designer, I know my Client’s love colors. However, if the easy to change option isn’t available, they will need it coded. If they aren’t familiar with html color codes, css, or their Editor panel, this could get scary. BluChic has made it most simple!

There are a few other Developers like StudioMommy, Pretty Darn Cute Design, and Restored316 Designs that have made Color Settings easier for their Clients.

BlueChic Theme Options 2

If you’re a Genesis Framework guru, these settings are usually found in your Genesis Theme Settings. For more customizing, you may have added Genesis Simple Edits or Simple Hooks to your website. However, BluChic has made this fairly easy for the non-technical blogger.

If you’re theme has a slider, it’s easier than ever to configure it!

As you can see, there are more available options pertaining to Breadcrumbs, Post Dates, Categories, and Comments. Let us not overlook the Related Posts option that is so popular on many sites, as well as Post Excerpts, and Feature Image size!

Oh yes, no website or blog is complete without having Social Media Icons Settings. If you want to see this theme in action, hop over to here! This will allow you to easily set up your social media icons at the top of your blog.

Lastly, if you want to customize your own 404 Page, there’s even a spot for you to do so!

So you see, even a beginner blogger could tinker around with a BluChic theme and come pretty darn close to the vision they dream of.

But Don’t Let This Put Your Web Designer Out of Business

That’s right! Many Web Designers make a living from customizing themes that bloggers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs aren’t able to customize themselves or don’t have time for. Still remember those Designers when it comes time for a Custom Blog Header and matching Social Media Cover images, Migrating your blog from one host to another, Installs and Setup!

Now that I’ve shown you an easier solution to designing your own blog, how likely are you to try one of BluChic’s designs? If you’re still curious, why not hop over to BluChic {afflink} and check out some of their available designs!
